The 24th  annual Patrick O’Keeffe Traditional Music Festival Castleisland, Co. Kerry, Ireland. October 28th – 31st 2016 Est. 1993. Provisional programme, subject to change.

Friday, October 28th at 8.30pm. Official launch at the River Island Hotel.

10pm. Pub Trail begins with organised and impromptu sessions with Ireland’s top traditional musicians in pubs throughout the town. A detailed programme will be available online and in the pubs and hotel.

 Saturday, October 29th : 

2pm. Pub trail continues all day.

2pm. Glór na Féile – Brush up on your conversational Irish in an informal, relaxed class at Nana Bea’s Restaurant beside the new library.

3pm. Fiddle workshops – all levels catered for with Matt Cranitch, Connie O’Connell, Con Moynihan, Gerry Harrington and Aidan Connolly.

3pm: Singing afternoon in Hartnett’s Bar with Mickey MacConnell, Tim Dennehy and Don Stiffe. Hosted by Aileen Rowntree. Singers and listeners welcome.

5pm. Live Art Display- with the hugely talented Finn Harper in River Island Hotel along with exhibition.

5pm. Launch of Aidan Connolly’s CD Be Off.

Saturday Night: Pub trail continues until late.

Sunday, October 30th:

11:30am Mass with traditional music for the departed friends of the festival. Followed by a musical remembrance at Mike Kenny’s grave, St. John’s graveyard.

Poet and writer, Gabriel Fitzmaurice will conduct a poetry writing workshop at a venue to be confirmed on the Monday afternoon from 3pm.  ©Photograph: John Reidy

1pm: Pub trail runs all day.

3pm Accordion workshop – all levels catered for with Jackie Daly, Paudie O’Connor, John Brosnan.

3pm: Set Dancing in An Ríocht AC with Donie Nolan.

3pm: Day two of the singing workshop at The Poets Inn. Mikey O’Connor will be the host here and local and visiting singers are welcome.

Sunday night: Pub Trail Continues.

Sunday Night 8pm at the River Island Hotel:  Sliabh Luachra Legends’ Concert. Tickets can be had at €20 each from the River Island Hotel on 066 71 42555.

Booking is very strongly advised as seating spaces are limited. Pub trail continues.

Monday, October 31th

1pm. pub trail will continue all day till late.

3pm. Poetry Writing Workshop with Gabriel Fitzmaurice.
