It was a busy weekend for credit unions and for over 25,000 primary school children under the age of 13 years of age. They were competing in their local credit union schools quiz throughout the 32 counties, in over 300 venues.
The questions, compiled nationally, by primary school teachers, covered such general topics as: geography; history; music; literature and sport. Tralee Credit Union held its annual Noreen Lynch Schools Quiz on Sunday in the Brandon Hotel Conference Centre, Tralee.
180 Primary School Pupils
This year, 180 pupils participated in their quiz representing 23 primary schools throughout Tralee, Castleisland, Killorglin and surrounding areas.
Marketing and Business Development Manager with Tralee Credit Union, Suzanne Ennis thanked the pupils and teachers and the credit union staff for their combined efforts on Sunday.
“We had great support from all the schools who battled it out for the fun filled, action packed two hours. Our thanks to all the schools, students and their families and of course to Tralee Credit Union’s staff for making this event one of the biggest on the school calendar.”
Tight Scoring
There was some tight scoring among all the schools, but at the end there were clear winners.
With a point a piece in the U-11s between first place winners, St Brendan’s National School, Fenit, and Scoil Muire Gan Smal, Castleisland in second place and a third place finish for Ardfert National School.
