Nicole and Tomas Crowned Strictly Champions

Ballygarry House Hotel hosted the Strictly Love dancing last Saturday evening and a great evening’s entertainment was enjoyed by all who attended the event.

Congratulations to Tomas O’Connor and Nicole McEllistrim who won the judges vote on the night and were crowned as Strictly champions. The winners of the public vote were Dave Long and Zelda Boyle. Everyone danced their hearts out on the night so well done to all contestants. Many thanks to Oonagh Rahilly and her team for organising a great event. Thanks to all who voted and to our amazing judges on the evening.

Minors in Action at Weekend

Ballymac Minors will play in Division 3A of the County League and will start their campaign with a home game against An Gaeltacht on the weekend commencing the February 18th The date and time to be confirmed (TBC)

Faoi 14

Our U-14 boys played a challenge match against Lee Keegan’s Westport at the Institute of Tralee last Saturday afternoon. The game was organised to coincide with the Kerry v Mayo National League game which took place later that evening. A competitive game played in blustery conditions was enjoyed by both teams with the final score line being Ballymac 1-03 to Westport Gaels 2-07. Many thanks to all involved in arranging this game.

Cúl Camp 2017

Ballymac GAA will host the Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camp for girls and boys from the 31st of July to the 04th of August on the main pitch in Ballymac. The camp is aimed at providing boys and girls – between the ages of six and 13 – with an action-packed and fun-filled week of activity during the summer holidays which revolves around maximizing enjoyment and sustaining participant involvement in Gaelic Games.

Goalkeeping Course

Tralee Town Board are organizing a Goalkeeping Course for U-14 and U-16 players. The course will run over five nights. It should be of great benefit to those who play in goals, and also coaches interested in coaching young goalkeepers. Thanks to the Board for the organization and we hope it benefits all those taking part.

Tralee Town Board organised a Goalkeeping Course for both U-14 and U-16 players and it began last Wednesday, February 8th in Kerins O’Rahilly’s. Gary Kissane will be in charge of the course and it will run for five weeks in total with the dates and the venues listed below.

Wednesday, Februay 15th. at 6pm: Austin Stacks Connolly Park; Wednesday, February 22nd at 6pm: John Mitchels; Wednesday, March 1st. at 6pm: Ballymacelligott and Wednesday, March 8th. at 6pm: Na Gaeil

Coach Education Gaelic Football Workshops

‘Games Based Approach to Coaching: Improving Technical Skills and Decision Making’ Two workshops will take place over the coming weeks with the dates and venues listed below.

The workshops will be practical sessions focusing on developing and improving player’s technical skills and decision making through various types of Games.

The sessions will be delivered by former Kerry Footballer and current Kerry South U-16 Manager Sean O’Sullivan.

The sessions will be aimed primarily at coaches working with teams from U-12 up to senior level. One session will take in Killarney and the other in Tralee and the same session will be delivered at both venues with a cost of €5 per coach.

Monday, February 20th at 7.30pm in Mounthawk Secondary School Tralee; Monday, February 27th. at 8.30pm in St Brendan’s College Killarney Sports Hall.

Workshops for U-6 to U-12 coaches will take place in March, with the first session planned for March 13th. Details on these will be sent out over the next week. For any questions please get in contact with Donal Daly @ donal.daly.gda.kerry@gaa.ie.

Registration Night

The second registration night for Coiste na nOg will take place on Friday the 3rd of March from 7.30pm – 9.00pm in the club rooms. The annual membership cost is €40 for the first child and €25 per additional child of the same family. Family membership is €175. Registration forms can be downloaded from our website at www.ballymacgaa.com and may be completed beforehand or alternatively will be available on the day.  We welcome new players for 2017. The academy is due to start for both the U-8s and the U-10s on Sunday, March 5th at the usual time of 11am on the main pitch.

Our U-6 boys and girls will start their year on Sunday the February 26th in St Brendan’s Hall, Ballydwyer at 11am. All players please bring gum shields, water and indoor runners.
