The Kerry Holstein Friesian Breeders Club held its annual heifer show and sale at Castleisland Mart on Friday, March 24th.

An entry of 43 exceptional quality calved heifers were on offer.

Peter Kennelly, Akeragh Herd, Ardfert tapped out his champion.

Killarney Winner

Lot 39 Aghaleemore Margaret 55 and reserve champion lot 4 Aghaleemore Margaret 46, both owned by William Horgan, Kileen Killarney.

Heifer Trade

Kerry Holstein Friesian Breeders Club Chairman, John Walsh was on hand to present the trophies and rosettes to Mr. Horgan.

The champion sold for 1,830 guineas with the reserve selling for 1,800 guineas.

The heifer trade was not good overall with the average price being €1,550.
