The death has occurred of Anne Cahill, née Lady Howard, Dooneen, Castleisland,Co. Kerry.
Anne Cahill, nee Lady Howard, Island View, Dooneen, Castleisland, Co Kerry, February 5th 2018. Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family and in the tender care of the staff of the Tralee Community Nursing Unit.
Beloved wife of the late John. Sadly missed by her loving family Liz, John, Colin, Peter, Alice, Angela and Rose, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, relatives, neighbours and many friends.

Born in Bristol
Anne Cahill, nee Lady Howard, died peacefully on Monday morning in Tralee Community Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She would have been 95 on March 21st.
Anne was born in Thornbury in Bristol in 1923. During the war she joined the Red Cross and became a nurse.
During her time as a nurse Anne became friends with a girl called Mary Cahill from Scartaglin who worked in the corner shop in her locality.
At one stage Mary was coming home to visit her family and asked Anne if she would like to come and visit Ireland and she agreed.
Castleisland on Fair Day
The two friends arrived in Ireland on November 1st and they came to Castleisland where the annual horse fair was on.
Here Anne met her husband John Cahill who was Mary’s brother.
Love blossomed and within and few years they were married and she moved to Scartaglin where John was from. They lived in Scart for a number of years before moving to Dooneen in Castleisland.
Funeral Arrangements
Reposing at Tangney’s Funeral Home, Castleisland on Wednesday evening from 5pm to 7pm.
Private removal from her residence on Thursday morning. Arriving to Castleisland Parish Church for Requiem Mass at 11am.
Burial afterwards in Scartaglin Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu to the Tralee Community Nursing Unit c/o Tangney’s Funeral Home.
