The Duagh Sports and Leisure Complex management team members are delighted to announce they are holding their annual concert on Thursday, 30th August again this year.
Emboldened by last year’s extremely successful night at the complex, they are ‘Bringing Back the Showbands – Again’
In Memory of Fr. Pat Moore
“The 2017 event was dedicated to the memory of the late Fr. Pat Moore – a founding member of the complex and an inspirational driving force which ensured the success of the development,” said spokesperson, Nelius Collins.
“The hosting of such a social gathering in a small rural community like Duagh is now more important than ever to foster community spirit and give the local economy a welcome boost.
A Resounding Success
“Last year’s concert was such a resounding success we have decided to once again put our trust in the ultimate showman, the one and only Shaun O’Dowd.
“Indeed Shaun has, we believe, come up with a line-up that would be the envy of many a venue. Returning for their second appearance in Duagh will be the brilliant show-band The Conquerors with Keith and Lorraine.
Paddy Cole, Ronan Collins, Linda Martin
“Added to this line up will be Paddy Cole – the fabulous musician and singer; RTÉ Radio One presenter, Ronan Collins and the enchanting 1992 Eurovision Song Contest winner, Linda Martin.
“A contribution of the proceeds from the concert will go to the Kerry/Cork/Limerick Health Link Bus – as it did last year.
“This was Fr. Moore’s favourite charity and one very close to his heart.
Proceeds Ploughed Back
All other proceeds will be ploughed back into the completion of the Duagh Sports & Leisure Complex to complete the first floor section of the development.
“The completion of this section of the building will provide much needed support and services for the community as a whole,” said Nelius.
An Alarming Rate
“Last year’s allocation of tickets went out the door at an alarming rate. The concert sold out and we knew we had a hit on our hands before a note was sounded on the night.
“We simply had to turn people away from the door last year and there’s nothing worse than that for people who really want to see the show,” Nelius concluded.
