Tonight’s TG4 documentary An Bhearna Bhaoil, at 9:30pm., features, Dr. Eve Bruce, a Kerry based doctor.
From Inch in Co. Kerry to Amman, Jordon the documentary makers follow Eve and witness her work with Médecins San Frontières and discover how at 65, this mother and grandmother feels that her work is not yet done.
From Irish Homes to War Frontlines
The documentary goes from Irish hometowns to wartime frontlines, featuring Irish medics who do humanitarian work, exploring what inspires them to leave their homes and families in order to give assistance to those who need it most.
Dr. Eve Bruce, is a plastic surgeon, and begins her second term as coordinator of Médicin San Frontiéres’ Reconstructive Hospital in Amman, Jordan.
No Home Country Treatment
This hospital treats patients with complicated injuries – primarily from Iraq, Syria, Yemen and Palestine – who could not be treated in their own countries.
This is Eve’s first time in her medical career not being in the operating theatre.
Humans Helping Humans
An Bhearna Bhaoil was filmed over a period of six months on location in Kerry, Cork, Sligo, Iraq and Jordan, and tells the tales of our most valuable exports, the Irish humans helping humans at times and in places where humanity is needed most.
An Bhearna Bhaoil will air on TG4 tonight, Wednesday, February 19th 2020 at 9:30pm.
