All Star Involvement in Muire Gan Smál Virtual Sports Week

Muire Gan Smál is a big fan of sports and every year the school ensures that it has a busy schedule for its sport’s day.

This year, teachers, Norielle O’Leary and Emma Sweeney wanted to make sure that the whole school still managed to have a bit of fun so all took part in some sporting activities at home.

Bundle of Activities

Ms.O’Leary and Ms.Sweeney sent each child a bundle of activities at the beginning of the week with many different things to practice and try out.

There were also special guests for virtual sports week. These guests provided a little video of a workout session or a few top tips to try out for the children at home.

Maggie May’s Energising Yoga

Theses guest included Maggie May O’Callaghan of Yogalife Limerick who created a fabulous energising Yoga session for the pupils to kick start their sports week on Monday morning.

“Maggie is so lovey and exudes such positivity so we hope this was shared with the pupils and we thank her for her input,” said the school spokesperson.

Ciara – An Amazing Example

Following this, Ireland Rugby captain and local legend, Ciara Griffin outlined a few skills for the pupils to work on.

“She is an amazing example of how hard work, talent and dedication can lead to great things and we thank her for taking the time out of her busy schedule to help us out.

Carly – A Hit with Pupils and Staff

“On Wednesday, Carly Norris of Flying Fit Tralee returned virtually to the school. Carly was at our Sport’s Day last year in school and proved very popular with the pupils – and the staff – so it was a pleasure to welcome her back via video.

“She’s a Zumba instructor and ensured that the pupils boogied their way through our Wiggle Wednesday Day of Sports Week.

“Thanks to Carly for her input and hopefully she’ll be back in person for next year!

Paul O’Shea – A Super Example

“Thursday saw a introduction to GAA from former All Ireland minor winning Kerry captain and current Kerry U-20 captain, Kilcummin’s Paul O’Shea.

“Paul knows that there are many budding GAA and LGFA stars in the school and he shared a few top tips with the pupils on how to improve their football skills.

“Yet again Paul is a super example of how hard work, talent and dedication can lead to huge successes in sport. Thank you for your time Paul!

Tara’s Workout – Worked Out

“Finally Friday saw another well-known face return virtually to the school.

Local fitness instructor Tara Walmsley created a little session for the pupils of the school.

“Like Carly, Tara visited our school for sport’s day last year and the pupils loved her workout so it was super to have her back sharing her knowledge and expertise with us. Thank you Tara! said the delighted spokesperson.
