The Community Enhancement Programme (CEP), which is funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development, has provided €62,534 under Round 1 funding for projects in Kerry in 2020.
Cllr. Fionnán Fitzgerald sent the notification in which groups and clubs in the general Castleisland area feature prominently.
Grant Applications Invited
Grant applications were invited from community groups and local organisations across the county. In Kerry, it was agreed that the funding under this programme would be targeted at COVID 19 related capital expenditure as well as to continue support group initiatives under Kerry’s Age Friendly Programme.
Approval for 72 Projects
A total of 72 projects have been approved for funding under this scheme.
The range of projects supported include Covid-19 capital related expenditure, hand hygiene and safety measures at public amenities, purchase of IT equipment for community usage and to facilitate training for older people.
Also included are: improvements works to create safe outdoor recreation spaces; accessibility projects; home maintenance programmes; provision of comfortable, safe meeting spaces for older people in both indoor and outdoor settings.
Community Department Administered
The funding is being administered by the community department of Kerry County Council in co-operation with the local community development committee.
The list of successful applicants will be available on Kerry County Council’s website and correspondence will issue from the Community Department in the coming days.
Second Round Deadline – September 21st
A second round of funding has been made available by the department under the Community Enhancement Programme.
Over €155,000 is available and the closing date for applications is September 21st. Full details of the application process are available on the council’s website.
