Local Independent Kerry County Councillor Charlie Farrelly sent a note to welcome recently announced Leader Funding of €43,426.80 by the Kerry Local Action Group (LAG) of which he is the only elected member from the Castleisland Municipal District.
Successful Recipients
Cllr. Farrelly listed the successful recipients as: Kielduff Community Co.Op Ltd for Kielduff Community Centre refurbishments €15,118.50; Glenegeenty Ramblers, Ballymacellitott project Glenegeenty Walkways €8,971.31; Gneeveguilla Community Development for the establishment of Community Hub and Hot Desks €7,426.88 and Gneeneguilla Teach Fáilte for the upgrading of audio and video systems €5,564.08 these five groups receive funding due to successful applications they submitted to NEWKD and IRD Duhallow.
Community Enhancement Programme
Cllr. Farrelly also welcomed Community Enhancement Programme 2020 Round 2 funding which is been distributed by the Kerry County Council Local Community Development Committee (LCDC) of which he is also a member.
He also wishes to congratulate the nine local groups and community centres which received funding as follows: Lyreacrompane Community Development CLG €3,000; Castleisland Day Care Centre €2,000; Cordal Community Resource Centre €2,000; Killeentierna Community Centre €2,000; Knocknagoshel Sports & Recreation Centre €2,000; Toureencahill Community Group Ltd €1,500; Lyreacrompane Heritage Group €1,000 and Castleisland Community Centre €1,000.

This funding will be a huge help to these successful groups and centres who have been badly hit during the Covid pandemic.
Cllr. Farrelly said he’s delighted to be of assistance to some of these groups who had requested his help and advice in completing their applications.
