The following is the agenda and motions for the Castleisland and Corca Dhuibhne Municipal District meeting today, Thursday, March 18th.
Notices of Motion
Cllr. Bobby O’Connell: That Kerry County Council take over the Castleisland River Walk as it is an extremely important amenity for the area.
Cllrs. Bobby O’Connell, Charlie Farrelly, Fionnán Fitzgerald, Jackie Healy-Rae: We, the elected members of Castleisland are asking Kerry County Council to reinstate the grant for the maintenance and upkeep of An Riocht Town Park.
The grant is needed to maintain the footpaths, grass cutting, hedge trimming, planting of shrubs and general maintenance of the town park.
This is the main recreational area for the people of Castleisland and hinterland, and it would be a shame to see it not properly maintained.
Cllr. Breandán Fitzgerald: That Castleisland & Corca Dhuibhne MD make an application requesting funding under the new Outdoor Public Space.
Scheme 2021- Who’s Eligible
If this Scheme isn’t open to our MD to apply for funding then we should request the Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media to provide a scheme to which we can apply for funding so that we can adapt, equip or otherwise improve public spaces for cultural and events activities like other MD’s who can avail of this scheme.
