Patrick O’Keeffe Festival Special on Céilí House on RTÉ One Tonight at 9

Tonight on RTÉ Radio 1 at 9.02pm Céilí House will be devoting the full programme to previewing this year’s Patrick O’Keeffe Traditional Music Festival.

“Out of necessity the recording had to take place in the RTÉ studies in Donnybrook as outside broadcasts are still not permitted,” according to Conor O’Mahony straight from the PO’K publicity department.

“Paudie O’Connor will give a full run down on the festival, as well as talking about the history of Patrick O’Keeffe.

“He will be joined by his wife Aoife Ní Chaoimh and they will provide some of the musical entertainment also.

Album Launches Galore

“Also on the bill will be Maura O’Connnor from Abbeyfeale. Maura left her senior infants class in Tournafulla early Friday and made the long journey to the capital to be part of tonight’s programme. “She will be talking about her album ‘It’s Handed Down’ which she will be launching in person at this year’s festival alongside Emma O’Leary, Diarmuid O’Brien & Dónal O’Sullivan as well as  Bryan O’Leary who will also be launching albums.

Long Association with Castleisland

Aidan Connolly will also appear on tonight’s programme. His new album ‘The Portland Bow’ will be launched at this year’s festival.

Niamh Parsons will be the guest singer tonight. Niamh has a long association with the festival, appearing many times here over the years.
