Frances Black is the latest big name on the Irish music scene to grace the stage at Ó Riada’s Bar and Restaurant in Ballymacelligott.
The member of the famous Dublin musical family will appear there for two dinner and show combinations on Saturday, October 30th.
The first dinner sitting is at 5pm and the Frances Black concert takes the stage from 6pm to 7.15.pm
The second dinner sitting is at 8pm and the concert is on from 9pm to 10.15pm.
A Growing List
Frances Black joins a growing list of famous, musically talented performers to make the pilgrimage down to Ballymac since Mary Jones decided to create the concept and the stage at Ó Riada’s spacious venue.
The Ó Beaglaoich family members, Breanndán, Máire agus Séamus are regular if impromptu bearers of their West Kerry musical gifts to the venue.
The Black Family
Sharon Shannon knows the way to Ballymac like the back of her hand by now while Mundy and Johnny McEvoy have also appeared there on separate occasions.
Frances Black has been a member of The Black Family group and she toured the world as part of the band Arcady with the likes of the aforementioned Sharon Shannon along with Johnny ‘Ringo’ McDonagh, Patsy Broderick and Cathal Hayden.
A Woman’s Heart
She was also famously involved in the truly ground-breaking A Woman’s Heart compilation of the early 1990s when a select group of female singers released the record and tape.
Her contributions to the recording were: Wall of Tears and After the Ball.
On this her fellow contributors were her sister, Mary Black, Dolores Keane, Maura O’Connell, Eleanor McEvoy and Sharon Shannon.
