The annual Christmas Team Hope Shoe Box Appeal returned to Castleisland Community College this year following its cancellation in 2020.

The students from the school responded with great enthusiasm to this very worthy cause.

The Shoe Box Appeal was incorporated into Civic, Social and Political Education classes in third year and it was part of their classroom based assessment.

Cake Sale Made €400

Some third years under the supervision of teacher Annette Steinborn organised a cake sale which raised over €400!

Other third year students, along with the rest of the school, made up shoe boxes for the various age groups.

Teacher Doreen Killington co-ordinates the project every year and she adds an extra dimension to the cause having worked with the Team Hope charity in Mozambique.

First Hand Account

Ms. Killington relays to the students what she witnessed herself regarding the lives of the children who receive these shoe boxes.

“Every year I am so proud of our students who give so generously to this very worthy cause. The spirit of Christmas is alive and kicking in our school,” said Ms. Killington.
