An chéad léacht á thabhairt ag Pádraig Ó Súilleabháin ó Ghníomh go Leith ar an bhfilíocht agus ar na filí agus na teicnící a bhaineann leis na dánta difriúla.
Sa dara léacht beidh fear áitiúil Breandán Doinneacha ag caint faoin tábhachtach a bhaineann leis an stair áitiúil go háirithe le hAogán Ó Rathaille a chum a dhán deireanach in aice le Caisleán na Mainge ‘Is fada liom oíche fhírfhliuch’ agus gan dabht an t-amhrán ‘The Wild Colonial Boy.’

Beidh turas ar a haon a chlog timpeall an cheantair máguaird. Fáilte roimh chách. Clár ama: Tosnú – 10.30 r.n. Léacht le Pádraig Rua Ó Súilleabháin ar an bhfilíocht agus na filí.

Lá Mór na Gaeilge in Castlemaine
An Irish language day is to be held in Castlemaine on th coming Saturday 28-5-2022 in the community hall (V93 R 273) starting at 10.30am and continuing until 3pm.
There will be lectures, discussion, conversation, fun and sport there.
The first lecture will be by Pádraig Ó Súilleabháin from Gneeveguilla who will talk about poetry, the poets and the techniques they use. Local man Brendán Ó Doinneacha will present the second session when he will describe events in the locality and how Aogán ó Rathaille composed his last poem near Castlemaine ‘’Is fada liom oíche fhírfhliuch’ also the song and the history of ‘The Wild Colonial Boy’ will be discussed.
The Ó Céirín family, Donnacha, Muiris and Uileog, who were Irish poets will be remembered.
A tour of the locality will take place at 1.00 o’cloch and various historic sites will be visited.All are welcome.
