Minister for Education and Kerry TD Norma Foley welcomes the awarding of €435,000 in funding for the Tralee based, Munster Technological University (MTU) Kerry to facilitate its expansion of electrical apprentice training.
This builds on the €20 million apprenticeship capital fund investment in 2021 across both the further and higher education sectors.
Currently, electrical apprenticeships at MTU Kerry only reach a phase four training qualification.
Enable Necessary Changes
This tranche of funding will enable the necessary changes to be made to the electrical training centre at MTU Kerry so that it can cater for the provision of both phase four and phase six training.
Minister Foley said that she welcomes this funding which is further evidence of government’s commitment to enhancing and expanding the apprenticeship system.
“This funding will ensure that MTU Kerry continues to provide quality, sought-after qualifications which will further strengthen and sustain a myriad of much-needed professions in key industries,” she said.
