Currow Rural Development members are currently making last minute preparations for a vintage / family fun day scheduled to be held in the village on Sunday, July 2nd.
“The day kicks off with a duck race at 12.30pm with further races throughout the afternoon and each race will involve 150 ducks,” according the event spokesperson, Mairéad O’Keeffe.
“There is great excitement as there is a pot of €1,000 put aside for prizes! There will also be great fun with Disney characters, balloon artistry, inflatable games and the very entertaining children’s tractor/trike run through the village,” Mairéad promised.
A Special Time Capsule
There will be a vintage display of cars, tractors and two steam engines.
A very special time capsule in the form of a seat was crafted by local Currow man John O’Connor, Ranaleen especially for the occasion.
“It will consist of present day photographs, mementos and special time capsule questionnaires completed by current day school-goers, their parents and residents of the parish.
“Completed questionnaires can be dropped off to McCarthy’s Food-store on or before this Wednesday evening, June 28th. or on the day of the event.
Save the Date
“The time capsule will be situated in the Currow Community Gardens with the ceremony taking place at 4pm when the capsule will be sealed for the next 50 years.
“So, save the date and come along to Currow on Sunday next for a great day of entertainment, craic and create memories for future generations,” said Mairéad.
