Christmas Cheer on November 24th
It may seem a little ahead of schedule but I want everyone to put a big circle on your calendars.
On November 24th from 5pm to 9pm Brosna Hall is hosting the Brosna Christmas Market.
This wonderful event is a great opportunity to pick up hand-crafted gifts for loved ones, enjoy some delicious foods, and perhaps a restorative glass or two of mulled wine.
I’ve had the great fortune to be at the previous markets and they were so enjoyable, meeting friends and being swept up in the happy vibes of community and Christmas.
Oh, and there’s a Monster Raffle too. All proceeds from the event will go to support our parish hall. Looking forward to seeing you all there. Ho ho ho!
Next Steps for Students
By now most of the students who completed their Leaving Cert this year have decided on a course of action.
Perhaps they are taking up apprenticeships, going to college or taking a bit of a time-out. Whatever the plan, get comfortable with the changes that are inevitable.
The regulated structure of Post Primary school has now fallen away and there’s a great sense of expansion in how life can be lived.
If you are leaving the nest, don’t be surprised if the first few weeks of thrilling escape give way to homesickness. That’s a perfectly natural emotion. Be gentle with yourself. Reach out for help and support within your colleges.
Be open to making new connections. And if somewhere along the way you feel that the course, apprenticeship or college isn’t necessarily for you, pivot towards something that makes sense for you.
You can’t have all the answers at 19 …. or even 90. Life is a journey that is certainly easier once we are on the path that suits us best. Take time to figure it out. Sometimes taking the path less travelled makes all the difference.
