Members of Castleisland fundraising branch of Kerry Hospice are absolutely thrilled with the success of this year’s coffee morning which was held on Thursday last.
Events were held at Jack Shanahan’s Haven Pharmacy in Garvey’s and in the former pharmacy on Main Street and by Rosemary Pender.
Between funds raised on the day and some donations which arrived afterwards, the three events have brought in a huge €8,604.
Craic and Stories
“People flocked to the venues from early morning until late afternoon for coffee, tea and a huge selection of home baking,” said branch chairperson, Liz Galwey.
“There was plenty of craic and stories and of course memories of old friends were brought up.
“Members would like to thank everyone who contributed and also those who dropped in baked goods.
Funds Kept in Kerry
“The funds raised will be kept in Kerry and will go towards the ongoing work done by Kerry Hospice and there are plans in place to increase the number of beds from 15 to 20 in the Palliative Care Unit at University Hospital Kerry,” said Liz.
