Honouring the Vital Role of  Educators in Abbeyfeale

Recently the Abbeyfeale branch of the INTO Primary Teachers Union hosted a dinner in Leen’s Hotel to honour the 19 heroic and retired teachers who played such a vital role in educating students in the area.

Three such individuals, who received recognition for their unstinting efforts, were: Mrs. Anne Nash, Mrs. Joan Shine and Mrs. Mary Scanlon.

This trio of superheroes offered decades of dedication in Knockaclarig, Abbeyfeale and Brosna. There are many reading this short note today who had the pleasure of being taught, mentored, and encouraged by these powerful and compassionate leaders.

On behalf of all the communities, we say thank you for all you gave in the course of your careers. You were the encouraging voice and the person who provided a safe and inclusive space where a child could begin to dream about life’s possibilities. It’s important we remember that teachers everywhere are the custodians of the future whose nurturing wisdom lights the beacons of future generations. Congratulations to you all. All the honours and praise you get are well-deserved. Gold stars all round.

GAA Legends

And talking of wine, some of our local lads are like a fine vintage, getting better with age.

Flor and Don McAuliffe, Dave Curtin, Micheal Murphy and Tom McGoldrick pulled on the mighty green and gold in Dingle recently.

Stepping out with the Kerry Masters Over 35s in the Tommy Griffin Tournament, our local heroes contributed to a thrilling winning side. Looking good, fellas. I don’t see a whiff of retirement looming on your horizons anytime soon. Congratulations to you all. You are inspirational.

Walking Back To Happiness

Congratulations to the GAA who have secured a significant grant to tar the walking track. This track will be upgraded in the New Year.

The amenities we have as a parish are amazing. We continue to be praised for the fantastic pitches, the soon-to-be state of the art club house, pristine village, historic church, handball alley, and the revamped Parish Hall. We are grateful to all the committees, volunteers, and citizens who continue to give so much in maintaining such excellent standards.
