The death has occurred of Abina Riordan, née Brosnan, Leam, Gneeveguilla, Co. Kerry.
Peacefully, at her residence, on Christmas Eve surrounded by her loving family.
Predeceased by her husband Denis, daughter Joan Sheehan and son in law John Sheehan.
Sadly missed by her sons Niall and Tadhgie, daughter in law Liz, grandchildren Olivia, Emily, Dylan, Lauren, Nicole and Dean, relatives, kind neighbours and a large circle of friends. May Abina Rest In Peace.
Abina Worked at Moran’s Drapery
Older Castleisland natives and residents will remember Abina as she worked in Moran’s Drapery / Jamesie Tangney’s at No. 33 Lower Main Street in the 1960s.
I remember her as my grandmother, Ellen Reidy would send be to town for errands and one of them would be to get her jar of Ponds Cold Cream and she always told me to ask for Abina. I met Abina in Tralee one day last year and I recognised her from all those years ago. The dark hair may have gone but the pleasant face and the friendliness remained with her. She remembered me also as the lad with the foxy, red, curly hair. That too is gone as things do.
May God be good to Abina.
Abina’s Funeral Arrangements
Reposing at her residence in Leam (P51 TX68), Gneeveguilla on Wednesday, December 27th from 3pm – 5.30pm
Requiem Mass for Abina will take place on Thursday, December 28th at 11am in the Church of the Holy Rosary, Gneeveguilla. Burial immediately afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
