Drugs, Guns, Ammunition and Cash Seized in Garda Swoop in Castleisland

A man in his 40s is under investigation after a Garda swoop on a house in Castleisland seized drugs, firearms and cash.

In a Garda operation in Castleisland at the weekend, firearms along with ammunition and drugs believed to be worth in the region of €35,000 and cash totalling €2,365 were seized in a swoop on a house.

As part of Operation Tara, Gardaí attached to the Kerry Divisional Drugs Unit carried out a search operation of a residence in the town on Sunday.

The drugs seized are subject to analysis by Forensic Science Ireland.

A man in his 40s was arrested as part of the follow up and is being detained at a Garda Station in the county under Criminal Justice / Drug Trafficking Act of 1996 and investigations are ongoing.
