The Junior Cycle students of 2023 received their Junior Cycle Certificates as the appeals process has now concluded.
The overall number of distinctions received by the 55 Junior Cycle students of 2023 stands at an amazing 23.
There were 21 distinctions at higher level papers in Irish, English and maths exams. There were also common level exams such as wood technology, science, history and geography.
Over 90% in Exam
A distinction means that the student achieved over 90% in their exam.
‘Only a small proportion of students nationally i.e. 2-4% of students received a distinction in the Junior Cycle exam of 2023 and the results from the community college students reflect the excellent standard of teaching and learning. The results were certainly well above the national average.
Six with Wood Technology Distinctions
There were six students who achieved a distinction in Wood Technology.
This places them in the top 3.4% nationally out of 22,000 students studying Wood Technology in the 2023 Junior Cycle exam.
“We are immensely proud of all our students who obviously worked diligently to achieve these results,’ said Castleisland Community College Principal Teresa Lonergan.
