A Night of Celebration at Pres Castleisland Annual Awards

On Thursday, May 16th Presentation Castleisland held its eighth annual awards night in the school’ St. John’s Hall.

Over forty students received awards on the night in areas of: sport, music, science and enterprise to name just a few. Keynote speaker on the night was sporting legend Mary Geaney.

Mary is a native of Castleisland, an Irish International, a Hall of Famer and an all-round sports superstar across multiple codes including camogie, Gaelic football, hockey, badminton, golf and squash.

Unique Achievement

She has captained her native Kerry to All-Ireland football glory before going on to lead Cork’s camogie team to All-Ireland success, becoming the first player to achieve such a feat.

Mary was rewarded for her sporting commitment and success across multiple codes in 2019 when receiving the Outstanding Contribution to Sport Award.

At the Pres awards night she spoke of the importance and rewards sport can bring to your life and the importance of kindness as we move through life.

CEIST Award for Blaithnaid

One of the main awards on the night was the CEIST Award. The CEIST award is for the student who shows respect to all and demonstrates care, kindness and inclusivity.

This student showcases fairness and is responsible in all that she does. This student models the CEIST values on a day-to-day basis and always has a smile on her face. The winner of the 2024 CEIST Award is Blaithnaid Casey.

Principal Pierce Dargan thanked all those in attendance along with the fabulous performance by the school choir, led by their director, Ailish O’Connor. A fantastic evening of celebration and music was had by all.
