Garvey’s SuperValu, Castleisland branch manager, Séamus O’Connor recently presented the store’s annual donation of plants to Castleisland Tidy Towns.

Over the past few weeks residents groups on the approach roads and individual volunteers who adopted tubs, along with CE workers and volunteers have been busily planting in anticipation of the judging of the town in the national Tidy Towns competition.

Always Helpful and Supportive

“As SuperValu is the national sponsor of the competition, Séamus O’Connor is always very helpful and more than willing to support the local Tidy Towns group,” said long serving volunteer and campaign leader, Mary Walsh.

Mary along with local committee chairman, John Breen were delighted with the donation of not only the plants, he has also given high viz vests and gardening equipment this year.

Plants of Quality Provided

“We are very grateful to Garvey’s SuperValu for their continued support and especially to Séamus and Noranne for the high quality of plants provided.

“The Tidy Towns group meets each Tuesday evening for one hour from 7pm to 8pm to carry out various jobs e.g painting, weeding, planting etc.

“We meet at the AIB on Main Street. All volunteers welcome and equipment will be supplied,” said Mary.
