Irish Rugby Hero Bundee Aki is the King of The Maum

Local children flock to Irish International Rugby hers Bundee Aki when he holidayed ‘up the Maum’ in Castleisland recently. Included are: Rebecca O’Donoghue, Martin O’Donoghue, Thomas O’Donoghue, Bundee Aki, Rían Rahilly, Aaron Horgan, Joshua Fitzgerald and Cillian Murphy.

Here’s a bit of good news to brighten our day and it came from up the Maam or the Maum as some spell it – but the news came regardless.

Bundee Aki – that great hearted man of Irish rugby who puts his body on the line for Ireland every time he laces his international boots and pulls the green ‘geansaí down over his head – as Fr. Mossie Brick would say

He has just spent a few relaxing days holidaying in a local airbnb up the Maum and looking down over Castleisland.

Presence Not Unnoticed

Needless to say his presence didn’t go unnoticed and a scrum of lucky local children surrounded him and enjoyed a chat and a quick photo session with their hero.

Bundee said he loved the views and the peace up the Maum and he shot a video of the views with overlooking Castleisland.

Love and Support in Ireland

Speaking of his devotion to the green jersey and of his source of inspiration he posted:

“It’s an absolute honor when your able to put on this special jersey for the first time, then to do it 50 times is something I never thought I can do. I can’t thank this team and country enough for their love and support. More importantly, I want to thank my wife @kayla.aki_ you already know I wouldn’t have made it without you. I love you,” he said.

Centre, Bundee Aki has been named on the Irish Rugby squad set to tour South Africa next month. As the rugby loving population of Ireland and the children of The Maum might ask: ‘Where would they be going without him?
