Paudie’s Memorial Tractor Run Deferred to Sunday, October 13th Due to Ladies GAA Success

The edited poster for the annual Paudie Fitzmaurice Memorial Tractor / Car and Motor Bike Run which has been deferred for a week due to big GAA game schedules.

There’s a change of plan on the cards for the scheduled October 6th and annual Paudie Fitzmaurice Memorial Tractor Run because of the success of the local women’s GAA clubs.

The LGFA wings of both Castleisland Desmonds and Scartaglen GAA Clubs have reached the senior and intermediate football finals of their respective county club championships and the tractor run has been postponed for a week to Sunday, October 13th in deference to their success.

The vast majority of the stewards who look after the road safety aspects of the run are doubling in this case as supporters of one or other of the teams involved in the double header finals on Sunday, October 6th.

Two Local Teams in County Finals

We couldn’t or wouldn’t step in the way of the locals clubs’ ladies teams supporters attending the games as this is a once off where two local teams are contesting such prestigious finals on the same day and in the same venue.

Needless to say the majority of our stewards would want to be at the games and so would we and we simply wouldn’t run the tractor event without a full compliment of stewards,” said event spokesman Cllr. Charlie Farrelly.

Street Collection Going Ahead on October 5th

Our Street Bucket Collection will still go ahead as planned on Saturday, October 5th.
