Note on Lessons at Castleisland Bridge Club

Interested in Bridge Lessons for Beginners? Please text to 086 60 27 479 before November 30th.

There has been an active Bridge club in Castleisland for generations and its members meet weekly.  Now the club’s committee and experienced players are offering to teach newcomers and potential members the rules of the game.

They say it’s an entertaining way to spend some time with friends and neighbours and to meet new people.

“The game is perfect for players of all ages, and it’s a great way to test your skills and strategy and it’s also a great way to keep your mind active.

Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned pro, Bridge is a great game to play.

Bernard and Jimmy Nearly Shared a Birthday

I mentioned here a couple of days ago that our one and only undertaker, the inimitable Bernard Tangney celebrated his 60th birthday.

A day later and a contrast in occupations, Jimmy Horan of the Tralee Road garage also celebrated his 60th.

I spoke to Jimmy last night as he was out and about and hoped to get the low down on the celebrations.

“I love what you wrote about Bernard,” said the always obliging Jimmy. “All you can say about me is that Bernard buries them but I do my best to keep them alive, over ground and on the road.”

Happy Birthdays gentlemen – and they’re both all that.

Notes from the Area.

A Note on The Notes

There one good thing about doing this kind of work on a regular basis. There are several things -in fact.

One of them it that there’s never any shortage of advice on what to do or what to include on pages like this.

The most offered line of advice I’ve got over the years is: Why don’t you do a notes page where people can send you a couple of lines if they want to congratulate or thank someone for some little thing they did for them.

I did this kind of notes compilation several time before but I keep forgetting to go back to it.

But you won’t be allowed to forget much in this game. So I’ll try to keep it in mind for a weekly slot and I’m throwing it out to you my friends and neighbours to fill the spaces with your newsy snippets.

So, clean the nib, point the pencil, plug in the laptop and get on with it. Slán go Fóill. Short, newsy items for inclusion can be emailed to: jreidy@mainevalleypost.com

You can contact The Maine Valley Post on… Anyone in The Maine Valley Post catchment area who would like to send us news and captioned photographs for inclusion can send them to: jreidy@mainevalleypost.com Queries about advertising and any other matters regarding The Maine Valley Post can also be sent to that address or just ring: 087 23 59 467.
