Gamblers Anonymous Open Public Meeting at the River Island Hotel Tonight at 8pm

The Kerry Branch of Gamblers Anonymous  would like to bring to your attention to an open meeting on gambling problems this Wednesday night, November 20th at 8pm at the River Island Hotel, Castleisland.

Gambling problems can happen to anyone from any walk of life and a spokesman for the organising group said that the problem of gambling addiction is far more serious than most people realise – and it’s getting worse.

“The problem,” he said “is being made far worse by the recent surge in online gambling.”

“You have all the facilities to lose everything you have in your pocket and on your laptop and that’s exactly what’s happening now,” he said.

However, there is help and support available. “We saw an extremely urgent need to set up a group like this and to arrange meetings like the one on Wednesday night to let people know that help is here.

“It may take some courage to reach out for that help but it can change your life if you do and we encourage anyone trapped in that dreadful situation to come to take that first step and come to the meeting.

“You may not wish to speak at the meeting but you can approach any one of the organisers afterwards and, together, we can take it from there,” he said.

All are most welcome and there will be refreshments and an opportunity to mingle and talk after the meeting.
