Former Manchester United Soccer Player to Guest at Padre Pio Devotions in Castleisland
The Castleisland based Padre Pio December Devotions will be held on Tuesday, December 10th at 7.30pm.
Saint Padre Pio’s healing glove will be available for blessings on the night.
The special intentions box, which is always available for petitions from members of the public, will be brought to the altar for consideration and blessings and to be part on the evening’s devotions.
The witness, which is another integral part of the monthly devotions, will be given on Tuesday evening by Fr. Philip Mulryne – a former professional soccer star, and now a Dominican Priest.

A former Manchester United and Northern Ireland soccer international Philip Mulryne has been ordained a priest of the Catholic Church.
The Belfast native made his debut for Manchester United in 1995 and spent four years at the club before moving to Norwich City in 1999.
In his Manchester United days he rubbed shoulders with the likes of Roy Keane, David Beckham and Paul Scholes and so on. He signed for Norwich City in 1999 for a fee reported to be in the region of £500,000.
He also gained 27 caps with Northern Ireland before retiring from the game in 2008.
Special Christmas Rambling House in Scart
A special Christmas Rambling House will be held at the Sliabh Luachra Heritage Centre in Scartaglen on Monday. December 9th at 8pm.
A visit from Santa Clause is on the agenda and hopefully he will bring some gifts.
All are welcome and refreshments will be served with nothing stronger that tea on offer.
There will be music, singing and chat.
Castleisland Christmas Launch on Monday Afternoon / Evening
Plans by Castleisland Chamber Alliance will hold its Christmas launch on Monday afternoon and evening – weather permitting.
Now: in Castleisland on Monday, December 9th Christmas will be launched and celebrated with the blessing of the crib at The Fountain by Fr. Mossie Brick at 3pm followed by the planned carol singing by the local primary schools.
At 3.20pm the ceremonial switching on of Castleisland’s Christmas Lights by Tadhg and Derry Fleming is also part of the Monday afternoon programme.
After dark at 5.30pm the promised ‘Jingle & Mingle’ at Walsh Electrical car park will also go ahead with Santa arriving and looking forward to meeting children of any age. All invited and free of charge.
Barrack Street Winner of An Ríocht AC 50/50 Draw
An Ríocht 50/50 draw took place at Diarmuid’s Butchers on Friday.
Noreen O’Sullivan was presented with her cheque for €600 which she won the previous week.
Club members John McMahon pulled out the winner and the €606 is Kathleen Hickey from Barrack Street, Castleisland.
Kathleen will collect her cheque at next week’s draw which will take place at Costello’s Shoe Shop.
