Beidh oíche oscailte Dé Luain 27ú Eanáir ag 7 a chlog i nGaelscoil Aogáin. Gaelscoil Aogáin will run an open night on Monday, January 27h at 7pm in the school. Beidh fáilte romhat ar an oíche.
Founded in 1987, Gaelscoil Aogáin has been going from strength to strength ever since. Is Scoil Lán Gaeilge í Gaelscoil Aogáin a cabhráionn le paistí Gaeilge a labhairt ó aois óg.
“We are a proud Gaelscoil that takes pride in all aspects of a child’s school life from academics and sports to cultural and extra-curricular events,” said muinteóir Mícheál Ó Ciardubháin who also provided the following information on the College Road based school.
Irish is Our Heritage and Our Language
“Irish is our heritage and our native language and we are very proud of that in our school. We foster a positive atmosphere to promote the learning of the language. We aim to have our children leaving the school as proficient speakers offering them a huge advantage over their peers when it comes to secondary school.
“By immersing yourself in Irish everyday at school you can learn a language without having Irish at home so you don’t need Irish to be able to speak Irish to send your children to a Gaelscoil! There are also Irish language lessons for parents every September for anyone interested.
“We have an all weather pitch in the school which allows the children to be outside and active on most days.
Active and Amber Flag School
“We also have two basketball courts and a jungle gym so the children of all ages are active. We take part in and promote sports such as athletics, gymnastics, basketball, rugby, and football through arranging extra-curricular coaches to come to the school.
“We are an Active and Amber Flag school, which means we care about physical and mental well-being. We take part in many primary school initiatives and competitions such as the Castleisland Basketball Blitz, Cumann na mBunscoil, Science Blast and others. We place an emphasis on being active and healthy in all aspects of life.
Highly Trained Naíonra Staff
“The Naíonra/playschool attached to the school is an excellent preschool and after school running from 8am-6pm. With highly trained staff and a fully operational kitchen offering meals to students the Naíonra is an essential part of our school.
“With dinners and homework supervision the Naíonra offers a lot to working families. The Naíonra also runs excellent summer and Easter camps for children of all ages.
