A squad of first and second year students from Presentation Castleisland headed to Mercy Mounthawk recently to compete in the Allcare Pharmacy Kerry Camogie Blitz.

This competitive blitz consisted of first and second year students from across the county along with students from Kanturk, Co. Cork.

Presentation Castleisland entered two teams of 13, playing a seven a-side group stage competition all day.

Both Pres Teams Qualified

Following the group stage, both Pres teams qualified for the shield semi-finals.

This resulted in one team progressing to the final where they came up against Causeway Comprehensive from the camogie and hurling stronghold of North Kerry.

The Pres girls put in a dominating display, resulting in a comprehensive win, that included five goals.

Future in Safe Hands

Captain Seána Walsh accepted the shield on behalf of the team.

This is the first piece of competitive camogie silverware in the school’s long and successful sporing history.

The team is managed and trained by Pres Castleisland Principal, Pierce Dargan and assisted by Sliabh Luachra Camogie Club founder member, Anne Walsh.

The future of the sport is in safe hands with this group of players and a bright and no doubt successful future lies ahead for the game in the Castleisland area.
