Kilmurry National School’s very own Eilís Lynch has been named as corner back for the prestigious Ladies Football Club Championship Team of the Year.
This is a remarkable achievement for Eilís, as she is the sole Munster representative on the team. Her dedication and exceptional performances on the field have earned her well-deserved recognition and she will be honoured at the AIB Club Player Awards ceremony this Friday March 21st in Dublin.
However, celebrations will have to be kept in check for Ms. Lynch, as she has a crucial match the very next day.
On the Field with Kilmurry and Kerry on Saturday
Her principal at Kilmurry, Thérèse Kearney makes us aware of another facet of Eilís’ dedication, determination and talents in the classroom:
“On Saturday, she will take to the field once again, representing her team in Austin Stack Park at 2 pm against Meath. The quick turnaround will require immense focus and determination, but Eilís is no stranger to hard work, both on and off the pitch.
A Beloved Teacher at Kilmurry
What makes this occasion even more special is the involvement of her students. As a beloved teacher at Kilmurry National School, Ms. Lynch has not only inspired her pupils with her sporting achievements but has also been a passionate advocate for the deaf and hard of hearing community.
On Saturday before the match, children from second to sixth classs, accompanied on vocals by the talented Aileen Lynch, will perform Amhrán na bhFiann through Irish Sign Language (ISL), a skill they have learned under Eilís Lynch’s guidance.
Her School’s Special Class Teacher
As the school’s special class teacher for the deaf and hard of hearing, she has been instrumental in incorporating ISL into the school’s activities, making learning both fun and meaningful for all students.
For Ms. Lynch, this will be a moment of immense pride—standing on the field in her Kerry attire, guiding and watching her students showcase their talents in a language that she has passionately promoted.
Committment to Inclusivity and Education
Her commitment to inclusivity and education is as strong as her commitment to football, making her a true role model in every sense.
Kilmurry National School and the wider community are incredibly proud of Eilís Lynch.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to her on her outstanding achievements and wish her the very best in her match against Meath.
No doubt, she will continue to inspire both on the field and in the classroom for years to come,” said Ms. Kearney in conclusion.
