After a long campaign which began last November 11th and during which they endured some dog rough weather, the boys are back in town with the new water mains.
The Uisce Éireann team members and their civil works partners, Ward and Burke Construction Ltd began their pipe replacement work at Ballymacadam on the Brosna Road at that time with plans to reach the old library or thereabouts with an ambitious early April target – and here they are.
Low or No Water Pressure from 8pm Tonight
Now that they’re here, there’ll be one last few hours of low or no water pressure in the Castleisland town and hinterlands areas tonight from 8pm to the early hours – around 2am on Tuesday morning.
Work, according to an update from Cllr. Charlie Farrelly, began at the Ballymacadam Reservoir end of line which has caused untold disruption to schools and the hospitality industry locally and is now about to conclude with one last cut in supplies tonight.
“There may be very low pressure in the Castleisland during these hours tonight and tomorrow morning – but there won’t be any pressure at all in the outlying areas,” said Cllr. Farrelly.
