
Kerry LGFA members are delighted to announce that Kerry and West Limerick Credit Union have continued their sponsorship of the Credit Union Donal Curtin Cup.
The cup competitions up will see 37 teams from across the county compete across six divisions which commenced on March 23rd.
Nora Fealey, chairperson of Kerry LGFA said that the continued support of the Credit Unions is a testament to their commitment to local communities.
“The increase in the number of teams this year highlights the levels of undertaking by players, coaches, administrators and volunteers at club level.
Looking Forward to a Busy Season
“Best of luck to all teams involved in the Credit Union Donal Curtin Cup and we look forward to a busy season ahead! said Ms. Fealey.
Shelia Curtin, the late Donal Curtin’s wife said that she’d like to thank Kerry LGFA for their continued support in organising the competition each year and also to the Credit Union for their continued sponsorship.
“Donal was a huge advocate of ladies football and in particular wanted to see young players get more involved and gain that experience of competitions.
Encouragement for All Players
This competition is an encouragement for all players to gain the experience of competitions and with dedication can ultimately become future county players.
“Having attended the games over the years, I would like to emphasise the standard, interest and the spirit in which all these games are played in every division from one to six was equally competitive. “I know all players look forward to taking part in the competition each year.
“It’s an honour to see the County Board put up five cups last year for this competition and an extra one being added this year. Each cup is of equal value with every club aiming to win out their division and get their hands on the cup,” said Sheila.
Strengthening Grassroots Clubs
Speaking on behalf of the sponsors, Philip Lynch added that the Credit Unions are delighted to continue their support of the Kerry LGFA by continuing sponsorship of the competition.
“The sponsorship reflects commitment to strengthening grassroots clubs for the benefit of people living in these communities which is central to the Credit Union ethos.”
