College Road, Castleisland native, Kildare resident, Mairead O’Flynn has been a school principal for the past two decades in her adopted county.
Mairead, a daughter of Eileen and the late Con O’Flynn, qualified as a Barrister recently and was called to the Bar by Chief Justice Susan Denham in the Four Courts in Dublin this week on Thursday July 14th.

“As a school principal for the last 20 years, I have dealt with different types of problems where a knowledge of relevant legislation was necessary,” said Mairead.
“I undertook study in family law and administrative law at first and soon developed an interest in the study of law in general.
“I finished a law degree in 2013 and was always interested in the more practical application of the law in everyday life.

“I was successful in the entrance exams for King’s Inns in 2014 and completed the Barrister-at-Law degree by attending on alternate weekends over two years.
“The course is demanding when working full-time but it was very interesting and challenging,” said Mairead.
I’m sure the close community of neighbours and friends in which she grew up among in College Road – and Castleisland in general – won’t mind a bit if I take the liberty of sending her our sincere congratulations on her achievements.
