Castleisland Coursing Club will hold its 57th annual meeting over this coming weekend at Cahill Park, Tullig on Saturday 29th, Sunday 30th, and Monday 31st October. Action will start on the three days at 11am.
“The Island Cup is the feature event with top class dogs coming to the famous Castleisland meeting. Ones to watch out for here are: La Marsillaise who showed winning form when winning a local stake and ran up two trial stakes after this.

Kyle Bruce won in his trial stake in this field followed by the Island Cup last year and will be looking for a hat-trick this weekend,” according to club PRO, Majella Riordan.
“Kerry Abu has picked up silverware and valuable points already this season when winning at Kilflynn. Others to watch out for are Tory Hill Denzel, Wallace Cruise and Wizard Matthew.
“The entry in the Derby Trial Stake this year makes it hard to pick a winner as they are all puppies. Winning this stake is much sought after in Castleisland with the previous winners going on to make a name for themselves at the national meeting in Clonmel.
Top Class Competitors
“The all aged bitch event has also top class competitors coming to Cahill Park. Ones to watch out for here are: Lineroad Lamar who picked up silverware and points already at Kilflynn, “Shimmerandshine who went to the semi final already this season in Glin. Tangerine Dream who also went to the semi final in Ballyheigue. Others to watch out for are Pumpkin Kia, Ballymac Blue, Blizzard Maria and Chevalto.
“This year we are holding a Reserve Oaks Trial Stake. It is hard to pick a winner from this as they are all puppies and it will be all to run for over the weekend.
Exciting Programme of Coursing
“The Hare Minders’ Stake, Three Course Duffer and a one course Duffer will also takes place over the weekend adding to an exciting programme of coursing in Castleisland over the three days.
