Cordal V Churchill: Division 5 County Senior League Round 2
Cordal got off to a flying start against Churchill as part of the Division 5 Senior County League on Sunday.

Cordal fought hard and exited the game having scored over double their Churchill opponents with 0-21 to 0-10. The game took place in windy conditions in Churchill GAA Club grounds.
Cordal were first out the gate with an opening minute point scored by Philip O’Connor. Michael O’Brien scored first for Churchill with a point from a free.
Cordal Points Tally
Philip Griffin, Philip O’Connor and Brian Reidy increased the Cordal tally in the next few minutes. Donal McCarthy scored a point in the 26th minute. Philip Griffin scored Cordal’s final point of the half.
Churchill’s Eoin O’Brien scored the last point of the half from a free. Half time left Cordal in the lead with three points up at 0-10 to Churchill’s 0-07.
Cordal’s fighting spirit continued after half time. The ball went through both teams hands in the opening minutes of the half with Cordal’s Philip O’Connor scoring the first point of the half. Cordal’s Brian Reidy and Sean Walsh also added to the scoresheet with some further points. Churchill’s Eoin O’Brien and Ciaràn Crowley kept their team in the game, scoring some much needed points in the third quarter.
A Strong Performance
Cordal increased their pace in the final quarter of the match. Philip Griffin, Kieran O’Donoghue and Brian Reidy increased the Cordal tally stretching the lead by a further five points.
Churchill’s Cathal Rogers scored his team’s last point of the game in the 13th minute with a point. Cordal’s Kieran Enright gave a strong performance in the match and easily marked his man, a former Kerry minor.
Cordal’s streak concluded with Donal McCarthy scoring the final point of the game in the 27th minute. The referee blew the final whistle leaving Cordal the victors at 0-21 to Churchill’s 0-10.
Well done to the Cordal team on an impressive win in the opening round of the Division 5 Senior County League. Next up in the County League Cordal play Tuosist on Sunday in Cordal at 2pm.

Cordal/Scart V Kerins O’Rahillys: County Minor League Div 2 Round 3
Cordal/Scart faced strong opposition in Round 3 of the Division 2 Minor County League against Tralee’s Kerins O’Rahilly’s. Both sides were neck and neck in the final minutes with only a difference of a single point before the referee blew the final whistle. Full time scores left Kerins O’Rahillys the winning side with 4-09 to Cordal/Scart’s 3-11.
Cordal/Scart were in the lead at half time thanks to seven crucial points and three goals scored by Sean Walsh and David Riordan.
Half Time put Cordal/Scart three points up with 3-7 to Kerins O’Rahillys’ 3-4. Cordal/Scart slowed down in the second half only adding four points to the tally.
Kerins O’Rahillys made good use of fouls in the second half scoring two points from frees and a goal from a penalty in the 27th minute, scored by Gearòid Dillane.
Cordal/Scart were under fierce pressure to level the scores with little time to spare. A missed goal chance dashed their hopes but a late point scored by Shay Walsh left only a point between the two sides.
Despite best efforts time was against Cordal/Scart and they remained a point down by the full time whistle.

Cordal V Tuosist: Cordal play Tuosist this Sunday at 2pm in Cordal GAA Grounds. This game will be Round 2 of the Division 5 Senior County League.

Cordal GAA appeal to you to donate your clean clothes, pairs of shoes, belts, handbags, curtains and bedlinen. No duvets or pillows please. This is a continuous collection by our Club and all funds raised will help to improve the Club’s facilities and contribute to the Club’s running costs.
