Weather Crock Gone Up This Fine Morning

Not wanting to be the bearer of bad weather news all of the time, I took a look at my Weather Crock this morning and, I declare, the water has gone up into the bottle by a couple of inches.

Put that against the fact that it only barely kissed the neck of the bottle for the past week.

It’s clearly a good sign but proceed with caution.

There isn’t much in the Met Éireann forecast to back up my crock’s optimism – but time will tell.

This is the Met Éireann Forecast for the next couple of days:

Today: Bright with scattered showers this morning and cloud thickening with rain developing on the west coast towards noon. Rain will become widespread this afternoon and turning persistent and locally heavy. Becoming very windy in coastal areas especially with strong to gale force and squally southwest to west winds developing in the afternoon and veering northwest in the evening, possible gusts of 90 to 110km/h in exposed coastal areas for a time. Afternoon temperatures of 15 or 16 degrees Celsius.

Tonight: Rain will clear to occasional heavy showers early tonight and winds will moderate overnight. Lows of 7 or 8 degrees Celsius.

Solar UV Index: Moderate becoming low.

Tomorrow: Wednesday will be a cool, bright and showery day. Some of the showers will be heavy at times and possibly prolonged in western parts of the province, but some sunny spells also, best in eastern areas. Moderate or fresh but gusty westerly winds will veer northwest later. Highest temperatures of 13 to 15 degrees Celsius.
