Caherciveen made the long trip to Castleisland on the first Saturday evening of old time to contest this U-12 girls’ game.

The home side got off to a strong start with three consecutive scores from Amy McCarthy and another from Amy Curtin while Caherciveen’s Ciara Daly was the sole scorer for her side. The home side led eight points to two at the end of the first quarter.
The Castleisland girls continued to dominate throughout the second period of play.
Built on Their Lead
They defended well and secured several steals, their forward passing and team work ensured that they built on their lead with baskets coming from an accurate Tara Kerin, Mary Kate Culhane and Katie Kerins while denying their opponents the opportunity to register a score.
St. Mary’s entered the third quarter with a comfortable 16 point lead.
Cahersiveen gave a great performance in this quarter and the sides went basket for basket.
The home team won the quarter by a single point.

The final quarter was once again dominated by the home team, Mollie Mahony fought hard and won some great ball while Mikeala Buckley, Ellie Mai Walsh and Keeva Ahern all contributed.
St. Mary’s registered another 10 points in this quarter although Cahersiveen gave it their all to the end.
