The death has occurred of Éamon Carmody, Ballyduff, Knocknagoshel, Co. Kerry.
He will be sadly missed by his brothers Simon and Pat, sister-in-law, nieces, aunts, relatives and friends.
May He Rest In Peace.
The late Éamon Carmody was his own man and could be outspoken and not afraid to express his views on a wide range of topics – including matters relating to himself.
In that regard he wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea – but which of us is.
We had a running chain of conversations over the past couple of years about the weather. As an example of his straight talking he told me a couple of summers ago that we were in for a great year. He claimed that long range forecasting was his specialty. “But” he added, “I’m a pure donkey when it comes to the short range,” he said with all seriousness.
One of his abiding joys was that Con Houlihan mentioned him in an article after seeing him running as a youngster at a local sports meeting.
You could say that he was the kind of man you don’t meet every day and, certainly, the kind of man for whom the seanfhocail, ní bheidh a leithéid arís ann was coined. May God be good to him.
Funeral Arrangements
Reposing at Leahy’s Funeral Home, Knocknagoshel Tuesday evening from 6pm to 8pm followed by removal to St. Mary’s Church, Knocknagoshel.
Requiem Mass for Éamon will take place on Wednesday at 11am. Burial afterwards in Knockane Cemetery, Knocknagoshel.
