Cllr. Bobby O’Connell dropped in two sheets of paper containing confirmations from area engineer Brendan Mulhern that two local stretches of by-roads would be resurfaced in the immediate future.

“Further to your representations the L-2025 Powell’s Road from Caheragh Cross to Clashganniv will be surface dressed in the coming weeks.

Cllr. O’Connell is a busy man this week as he fills the role of general secretary of LAMA the Local Authority Members’ Association.

LAMA Gathering in Castleisland

The association is holding its autumn gathering in Castleisland this weekend and will centre its activities in the River Island Hotel.

Up to 350 delegates, representing all the local authorities across Ireland, are expected to attend the Thursday night to Saturday afternoon long event.

Minister Brendan Griffin

Invited speakers will include: Brendan Griffin, T.D., Minister for State at the Department of Transport, Toursim Sport with special responsibility for Tourism and Sport; Moira Murrell CEO Kerry County Council; Joan McCarthy Head of Tourism Kerry County Council and John Griffin, Tourism Officer Fáilte Ireland.

Topics Included

The line up of topics will include: Tourisim; Economic Development; Implication of aggregation of mileage expenses and gratuity and GDPR and its consequences; the role of county councillors; Social Media – Its benefits.

Cordal Goats’ Cheese

Lunch at the conference will include local produce – where possible and Cllr. O’Connell’s hand can be seen on the menu as he brought young entrepreneur, Shane O’Leary into the picture and his Cordal Goats’ Cheese will be on the bill of fare.
