Castleisland Desmonds GAA Club joined other sports clubs in the exhibition at An Riocht AC last Tuesday as part of the adjudication process in the Enterprise Town competition.

It proved beyond doubt, not only the extraordinary degree of volunteerism in town but also the professional approach and dynamism of the clubs.
It was a great opportunity to put their best foot forward and they all did so with style and aplomb.
Desmond’s presentation included an array of photographs and printed material by the senior and ladies sections of the club.
On display was the cup presented by the late Denis Guiney to mark the opening of our current playing fields in 1952 and the Celebrity Bainsteoir Cup that we won in 2010.
It also featured a model of our pitches and facilities that details our plans to improve our facilities even more which was constructed by Shane O Neill.
Officers of the club were present to answer the judges questions. We hope it helped, in a small way, to impress on them what a vibrant, forward thinking town Castleisland is.
Our thanks to Donal Barry, and Castleisland Chamber Alliance and the club officers who put so much work into the exhibition.
Run for Joy
Thanks to Desmonds club members who turned up at An Riocht on Sunday morning to support the 5k run/jog/walk in aid of the Miriam Joy fund. It was heart warming to see such a great community response for such a worthy cause.

Lotto at Browne’s Bar
The next Lotto draw takes place on Saturday next, October 13th in Browne’s Bar. Jackpot €5,200 a prize well worth an investment of €2 per ticket or 3 for €5.
Sympathy to Murphy and Wallace Families
Desmond’s express their sincere sympathy to the Murphy family and the Scartaglen GAA Club on the untimely passing of Donie Murphy, one of the great players who contributed so much to his club and to the GAA.
Our sympathy also to the Lixnaw club following the unexpected death of their chairman, Paul Wallace.
