Met Éireann has issued two Status Orange weather warnings in advance of Storm Diana which is forecast to hit parts of the south-west and west of Ireland from this morning.
Gusts of up to 130km/h are forecast along with high seas and some coastal flooding as the storm tracks over Munster and parts of Connacht today.
Orange Warning
An orange wind warning for Cork, Kerry and Waterford came into effect from 6am this morning for up to midday.
Winds picked up considerably early last night – as forecast – and the rain which had the local rivers swolen yesterday continued throughout the night.
Windy and Wet
This Wednesday morning, 28th November will be very windy and wet with strong to severe gale force and gusty southwesterly winds, strongest in coastal parts.
Continuing very windy into the afternoon. The winds will gradually start to moderate later but will remain fresh to strong up until evening.
The rain will be heavy this morning in western parts. There will be further outbreaks of rain throughout the afternoon. If you’re driving this morning you’re being advised to do so with extreme caution.
