Tionól Chontae Luimnigh le Abbeyfeale Conradh Na Gaeilge

Abbeyfeale Conradh Na Gaeilge and the Munster Branch of Conradh Na Gaeilge have come together/ teacht le chéile to present Tionól Chontae Luimnigh.

To its core, this is an Irish language and music weekend with culture, folklore, poetry and history of place through the Irish Language as its theme.

Event Tionól / gathering point will be Father Casey’s GAA Clubhouse on both days. 8th  and 9th of February 2019. Admission: €5 per day of event.

Programme:

Dé hAoine / Friday, February 8th:

19.00 – 19.30: Gathering at Fr. Casey’s GAA Club with Tea/Coffee. 20.00: The official opening of Irish Speaking Tionól Festival.

20.00 – 21.00: Lecture; as Gaeilge with Séamus Ó Coileáin; Athea ar Gnéithe de Thraidisiún; na Gaeilge in Iarthar Luimnigh. 21.30 -; 23.00:; Concert: Traditional Music with The Flannery Sisters; Eimhear and Caoimhe; Denis Curtin; Ríona Ní Churtáin; Dónal Murphy and the Murphy family.

Dé Sathairn /Saturday, February 9th:

10.00 – 10.30; Gathering at Fr Casey’s GAA Club with; Tea/Coffee.; 10.30 – 11.30; Lecture as Gaeilge le Síle de Cléir; ‘….ó mhaidin go hoíche agus siar go maith san oíche féin’ gnéithe sóisialta agus cultúrtha d’obair an éadaigh agus an fheistis i dtraidisiún na Mumhan.’ 11.40 -12.50:

Walking tour around The Square; Abbeyfeale and local bilingual history talk.0- 14.00; Break for lunch in Leens Hotel.– 15.30: Lecture as Gaeilge le hÚna Nic Éinrí ar An tAthair Nioclás Ó Domhnaill c.1700-c.1759 agus a chuid filíochta.15.30 – 16.00: Questions and Answers.

16.00 – 17.00: Traditional music session with young local musicians agus Comhrá Gaeilge. Tickets available at Abbey Tiles; Main St. Abbeyfeale Tel: 068 3110.
