Cordal Community Council spokesperson, Noreen O’Donoghue gladly tells us that Castleisland Community Centre management has decided to support their local development fundraising drive.

The Castleisland centre is allocating the proceeds of a monster bingo night to the Cordal council on Tuesday, November 19th. 2019 and 8.30pm.

“The funds raised will benefit our main, long term goal to have a footpath constructed to connect the Church of the Immaculate Conception and Post Office to the main cemetery at Tobar na Bhfionn,” said Noreen as she flagged the bingo session which can do so much for their plans.

Footpath on the Agenda

In a progress statement in August and ahead of its annual general meeting in September, Cordal Community Council had the laying of that footpath firmly on its agenda.

And, as we discovered just lately, the volumes of traffic – with some speeding – through the area has increased dramatically in recent months due to the improvement in the road structures and surfaces between Munster Joinery and Castleisland.

Some Good News

The provision of the desired footpath would ease the worry of people in general and, particularly, the parents of young children in the area.

That statement in August also included a line that the council members were expecting some good news ‘later in the year’ on the plans for the footpath.

The ‘Monster Bingo’ in Castleisland on November 19th will help the council to take a major step in that direction.
