In an operation that can be described only as surgically precise, two cab doors and the driver’s side seat were removed from a parked lorry yesterday, Friday, November 12th.
The daylight theft was carried out at the entrance to Dooneen Wood on the Limerick Road outside Castleisland and close to the Mick Galwey Roundabout.
The lorry, which belongs to Crag Cave and was being used as a mobile advertising unit for the tourist attraction, is a white 2013 Renault Midlum.
Targetted Very Specifically
The vehicle owner, Donal Geaney believes that it was targetted very specifically because of its make and age.
“This stuff was expertly taken from the lorry and there isn’t a mark or a speck of damage done to the areas around the doors,” said Donal.
“Whoever did this did it to order. This is not an act of vandalism – it was done by mechanics.
Contacting Test Centres
“It’s like someone was in need of a couple of doors for a similar model after failing a test and we’re in the process of contacting test centres in the area to see if a white Renault Midlum failed the test because of its doors.
Donal is now also appealing to anyone who might have dash-cam footage of any activity in the vicinity of Dooneen Wood on Friday to have a look over it and if there is anything on it to ring him on 087 266 92 50 or Castleisland Garda Station on 066 71 41204.
