Adapt Kerry Women’s Refuge and Support representative Susie Cox travelled to Castleisland during the week to collect a cheque for €2,864 from Michael Burke and his volunteers.
While here, Ms. Cox also expressed how grateful her organisation was to receive such a donation and to compliment Mr. Burke and his gang on their efforts.
“From the staff and directors at Adapt Women’s Refuge in Tralee we are very pleased to receive this generous donation,” said Ms. Cox.
Funding Always Needed at Adapt
“We would like to thank Micheal Burke and also The Crown Bar for organising and facilitating the fundraising event.
“Funding is unfortunately always needed and we also appreciate that by fundraising you are creating an awareness of domestic violence. It also highlights that there is support for those that require it,” she said.
Massive Thanks To All
Organiser, Michael Burke said he would like to say a massive thank you to all the volunteers who collected the contents of the cheque with him.
He included the following: Michelle Burke, Bill Reidy, Willie Reidy, Ted Kenny, Nellie O’Reilly, Angela and Amber McGaley, Theresa Downey, Tara O’Shea and Norma O’Connor.
“They gave up their time to help me with the bucket collection and raffle for the centre at Adapt Kerry Women’s Refuge and Support,” said Mr. Burke.
Fantastic Raffle Prizes
“Without out the volunteers and especially Tom Mann, manager of The Crown Bar, Castleisland and his staff this would not have been possible.
“Thanks to all the sponsors for their fantastic prizes for the raffle which took place in The Crown.
“The first prize was a signed 9/11 Jersey by J.J. Hanrahan and his then Munster Rugby team colleagues. This was won by Karen McGlynn.
“The second prize winner of a golf ball signed by Shane Lowry was Mary Geaney. Congratulations to all other prize winners of the spot at The Crown on the night also.
