Major Fundraiser for 2023

“This is our major fundraiser for 2023 with which we provide footballs and training equipment and other items for our U-6 girls team all the way up to our senior ladies team,” ladies club PRO Gerard ‘Gerdie’ Murphy.
“We wish to sincerely thank all the local businesses that are so kind in providing spot prizes.
In these hard times the business people of Castleisland and district are still very generous regarding sponsorship of prizes.
“We thank all of the club volunteers who helped with the selling of the tickets. Special praise and thanks must go to Mary Geaney who, day after day and in all kinds of weather sold tickets from her shop door.
“We look forward to that level of support again in late 2023 for our Christmas raffle for 2024,” said Gerdie.

Not Behind the Door

While praising those who supported the Desmonds ladies club draw, Gerdie and Vincent Murphy’s Sports weren’t behind the door when help was needed in the Kerry Ladies Senior Football team camp during the week.

In a statement at the weekend Gerdie Murphy said the the famous Killarney Road, Castleisland shop has a long and fruitful association with the Kerry Ladies GAA teams over the years.

Ideal Role Models

“We thank the Kerry Ladies Gaelic Football team for allowing us the opportunity to present this fantastic group of ladies with their ‘Lightening Gaelic Gloves’ in association with Lee Sports Cork. We were delighted also to present the team with five O’Neills Sportswear match footballs on behalf of the shop.

“We felt is was only right to show our support for the girls because of our long association with them and we felt they deserve to be supported for what they’re doing for the game at the highest level and they’re ideal as role models for the girls and young women in clubs like ours throughout the county,” said Gerdie.
