Liz Galwey wondered, in a comment on the photograph of the band in the MVP yesterday if anyone remembered the band Strange Daze from the 1980s.
Well here they are – at least three of the five members of the band with an eclipsed Brendan Watson on the drums and no sign at all of John Jackman.
The band was made up of Prunny O’Sullivan, Brendan Watson, John Jacknam, Redmond Roche and the afore mentioned PJ Teahan.
Tech Dance in 1983
They played for the ‘Tech Dance’ in The Astor Ballroom and Cinema on December 16th 1983 as the support act for the famous Limerick based band Reform.
The members of Reform thought they were good and invited them to fill the relief band slot for them at Woodies some weeks later.
The band rehearsed in a caravan / mobile home at PJ Teahan’s and in the slaughter-house at Jackman’s Butcher’s Shop – now Diarmuids Butchers.
If there’s a photograph of the five members of the band I’d appreciate if the holder would send a copy.
